Designed from the outset to enable people with a wide range of abilities to participate in the same activity and experience, using the same infrastructure wherever possible. The aim is not a separate "accessible version", but a shared experience.
The activity and its infrastructure provide physical access for participants with disability, including participants who use wheelchairs. This can include accessible pathways, platforms, transfer points or activity systems.
The activity can be modified to meet an individual's needs. Adaptations might include specialised harnesses, hoists, alternative techniques, adjusted instruction or additional support. Camp Yarramundi's planning specifically includes hoists and specialised harnesses for some adventure activities.
Importantly, these categories can overlap. A universally designed activity can also be wheelchair accessible, while an adaptable activity may use additional equipment or techniques to enable participation.
